Break and Steal an Egg Zones Guide
Recommended Speed gates, difficulty bands, egg pools, and when your Speed is ready for each area.
Zones are the progression map of Break and Steal an Egg. Each band lists a Recommended Speed checkpoint, raises NPC difficulty, swaps egg pools, and jumps rarity. You break eggs, steal animals past guards, and bank them in the Pen for cash — but entering a zone your Speed and Power cannot support wastes the run and your time. The big numbers next to each zone (5, 1,000, 50,000, and so on) are Speed targets, not cash unlock fees. Cash still buys Trails, pickaxes, and shop upgrades; Speed is what opens comfortable play in each field.
Use how to get Speed and how to steal alongside this table. For animal value context as the meta settles, see the tier list. The mid-page video walks zone routing while you follow the checklist below.

Treat each Speed gate as a readiness check, not a one-time purchase. After you cross a checkpoint, treadmill with your best equipped Trail before the first serious steal in that band so you hold a buffer above the listed number.
Forest — Easy Common starter
Forest is the tutorial biome. Recommended Speed sits around 5. Rock and Forest eggs teach the break → E → Pen loop at low risk. Wooden pickaxe Power 1 is enough to start; buy Stone ($80) and Iron ($800) when break animations drag. Claim free like/favorite Speed beside the Trails Shop, equip White Trail ($500, 2x), and learn exit planning here so later zones do not feel brand new under pressure.
Stay in Forest until Pen income cleanly funds Blue Trail ambitions and your treadmill Speed is climbing toward the Desert gate without emptying your wallet on the wrong shop row. Index Commons here — early claims like Chicken (60 Speed + 100 Cash) matter. See Index rewards.
Desert — Medium Uncommon
Desert asks for roughly 1,000 Speed, better routes, and slightly higher Power. Cactus and Bones eggs sit behind Medium guards. If Forest escapes still fail often, keep farming Speed instead of forcing Medium. Bring at least a comfortable Blue Trail plan and a pickaxe that does not leave you standing still for long break windows.
Farm Desert until Uncommon Index entries and Pen cash support the climb toward Snowy’s 50,000 Speed gate. Skipping Desert because Candy looks flashy is a common way to brick a mid-game account.
Snowy — Hard Rare
Frozen and Yeti eggs mark the first true Hard band at about 50,000 Recommended Speed. Treadmill after you first touch the gate so you are not living exactly on the number. Expect heavier chase pressure and less room for center-cluster breaks. Green Trail ($100k, 8x) becomes a realistic goal around this tier of play; read trails before you skip Blue.
Candy — Extra Hard Epic
Candy targets roughly 750,000 Speed and introduces Easter Bunny, Candy, and Rainbow eggs at Epic rarity. Extra Hard difficulty plus attractive loot means more players and more Bat interference. Side-pocket steals beat famous center eggs. Purple and Red Trails start to look necessary if you want consistent banks rather than highlight-reel failures.
Swamp — Insane Legendary
Swamp (~12,000,000 Speed) jumps to Insane with Gooey, Tree, and Lake eggs at Legendary rarity. Heavy carries and brutal guards punish outdated Trails. Your pickaxe ladder should already be deep into mid/late options (see pickaxes). Merge triples at the hub to raise Pen weight between Swamp pushes (pet merge).
Ocean — Demon Mythic
Ocean (~150,000,000 Speed) lists Demon difficulty with Sea Stones, Water, and Sea eggs at Mythic rarity. Treat every steal as a planned operation: exit first, break second, drop if the chase is lost. Mythic Index claims are valuable; do not leave them unclaimed after a successful first find.
Hell — Impossible Divine
Hell asks for about 1,000,000,000 Speed and is labeled Impossible, with Fallen Angel, Angel, and Volcanic eggs at Divine rarity. Enter only when your Trail multiplier and treadmill routine already feel boring on Ocean. Impossible is not marketing flavor — undergeared runs burn time and invite tilt spending on the wrong shop rows.
Blossom — Insane Cosmic
Blossom (~5,000,000,000 Speed) returns an Insane tag with Blossom, Bamboo, and Fortune eggs at Cosmic rarity. Income potential is enormous, so contested play increases. Keep Speed repaired between sessions. Cosmic animals feed both Pen cash and Index completion goals.
Galaxy — Brutal Secret endgame
Galaxy is the endgame band: about 25,000,000,000 Recommended Speed, Brutal difficulty, Sun / Starry / Blackhole eggs, Secret rarity with hydra fantasy. This is where late Trails (Secret, Laser, Moonlight) and late pickaxes (Galaxy, Celestial) earn their keep. Do not push Galaxy as a flex while you still fail Ocean or Hell steals.
Galaxy strategy notes:
- Confirm Trail is equipped every session — Moonlight 10k multiplier does nothing in inventory.
- Break only with a rehearsed exit; Brutal guards plus heavy Secret weight end greedy center pulls.
- Expect player competition; change pockets or servers when camped.
- Bank, claim Index, merge when possible, then treadmill before the next Brutal attempt.
- Use how to steal drop rules without ego — a dropped Secret attempt beats a full death spiral.
Climbing rules that prevent soft locks
- Speed gate every band. If the previous zone’s escapes are inconsistent, buy Trails and treadmill instead of forcing the next checkpoint.
- Power gate the break. If shells take forever, climb the pickaxe ladder before blaming guards.
- Index as you go. Systematic completion beats random high-zone tourism for Speed/Cash claims.
- Pen first. Animals in the Pen print the cash that funds Trails and pickaxes; empty Pens make every Speed target above look impossible.
- One band at a time. Skipping Snowy to live in Candy only works if your Trail and Power already match Extra Hard.
Recommended readiness checklist
Before pushing any band past Forest:
- Best Trail equipped and tested on the treadmill.
- Pickaxe Power comfortable for that band’s shells.
- Speed at or above the Recommended Speed column, ideally with a buffer.
- Pen income can fund the next Trail or pickaxe if the first hours go poorly.
- You understand drop-to-end-chase and edge-egg routing.
- Pending Index claims are taken so Speed is current.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the first zone and what Speed do I need?
Forest is Easy difficulty with Rock/Forest eggs at Common rarity. Recommended Speed starts around 5. It is the correct starter band.
When should I enter Desert?
After Forest steals feel consistent, you have free Speed claimed, a Trail equipped, and treadmill Speed climbing toward the ~1,000 Recommended Speed gate without abandoning Pen income.
What is the endgame zone?
Galaxy targets about 25 billion Recommended Speed, is Brutal difficulty, and features Sun, Starry, and Blackhole eggs at Secret rarity (hydra). Enter only with late Trails and pickaxes.
Why did I reach a zone and keep failing?
Usually Speed or route discipline is behind the difficulty tag. Drop back, equip a stronger Trail, treadmill above the Recommended Speed gate, and practice steals before pushing the next band.
