Break and Steal an Egg Getting Started Guide
Spawn, claim free Speed, break Forest eggs, and build a clean early economy.
Break and Steal an Egg is a Roblox simulation from ILGames x Eggs (released September 5, 2026). Your loop is simple to say and hard to master: break eggs with a pickaxe, steal the animal past guards, and place it in your Pen so it generates cash. Everything else — Trails, Index claims, deeper Speed gates, merges — exists to make that loop faster and safer. This guide is the first-hour plan: what to do at spawn, which free rewards matter, how the treadmill works, how to clear early Forest steals, and what to buy before you push into Desert.
There are no working redeem codes right now. Progress comes from free like/favorite/group claims, Pen income, and smart upgrades. Check the codes page whenever the game adds promos; until then, treat free Speed claims as your daily starter kit.
Spawn checklist
When you join a server (up to seven players), land near the hub shops and your Pen. Do these steps in order before you wander into a zone:
- Claim free Speed — Like and favorite the experience, then claim the Speed reward to the right of the Trails Shop. Join the group and open Community Rewards for the Sabertooth Egg when available.
- Equip a Trail as soon as you can afford one — Trails only multiply treadmill Speed while equipped. Owning them in inventory is not enough. See the full trails guide.
- Stand on the treadmill with a Trail equipped to convert movement into Speed. Speed is what lets you outrun guards after a steal.
- Open the Index early so you know which animals you still need for Speed and Cash claims. Details live in Index rewards.
- Learn the steal keys before you commit to a heavy egg — left-click breaks, E steals, and a bad exit route wastes the egg.
If you skip the free claim and Trail equip, every Forest run feels slower than it should. New players often grind Rock eggs for ten minutes, then wonder why guards always catch them. Fix Speed first.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| WASD | Move |
| Space | Jump |
| Left-click | Break egg / swing pickaxe |
| E | Steal animal from a broken egg / interact |
| I / O | Zoom in / zoom out |
Break eggs with left-click until the shell opens, then press E to pick up the animal. You must carry it back to your Pen without dying to guards (or losing it to player interference). For escape routes, timing, and Bat threats, use the dedicated how to steal guide after you finish this page.
First Forest steals
Forest is the starter zone: about 5 Recommended Speed, Easy difficulty, Rock and Forest eggs, Common animals. You start with a Wooden pickaxe (Power 1), which is enough for early Forest shells. Your first sessions should look like this:
- Walk into Forest with enough Speed from the free claim and a short treadmill session.
- Target Rock or Forest eggs close to a clear exit path — plan the run back before you swing.
- Break the egg, press E, and sprint toward your Pen. If a guard aggroes, do not panic-zigzag into dead ends.
- Place the animal in the Pen. Cash ticks start; that income funds Stone and Iron pickaxes and your first real Trail.
- Repeat until Pen income feels steady, then buy upgrades instead of hoarding cash.
Do not rush Desert (~1,000 Recommended Speed, Medium, Cactus/Bones, Uncommon) until Forest feels routine. Desert guards and shell toughness punish low Power and low Speed. When you are ready for zone progression, open the full zones guide.
Upgrade priority (Trail early)
Cash sinks compete for the same wallet: pickaxes raise Power so you break tougher eggs; Trails multiply treadmill Speed so you escape; deeper zones demand higher Recommended Speed. Early game, Trail value usually beats the next pickaxe once you can already break the eggs you farm.
Recommended early order:
- Claim free Speed (like + favorite; group reward when ready).
- Buy White Trail ($500, 2x) and equip it immediately.
- Treadmill until Speed feels comfortable for Forest escapes.
- Buy Stone ($80, Power 4) then Iron ($800, Power 15) pickaxes as Forest shells slow you down.
- Push toward Blue Trail ($7,500, 4x) before dumping everything into mid pickaxes — Speed failures lose eggs; slow breaks only waste time.
- Push Desert when Forest income and Speed (~1k) support Medium steals.
Full tables and later-game breakpoints live in pickaxes and trails. A common shop quirk: some players buy Green before Blue and feel stuck — read the trails page before you skip tiers.
Speed, treadmill, and AFK habits
Speed is not a one-time stat. You farm it on the treadmill with a Trail equipped, claim it from Index discoveries, and top it up from free rewards. If escapes keep failing, stop pushing higher Speed gates and fix Speed. The how to get Speed guide covers AFK treadmill tips, Index claim order, and what to do when progress stalls.
Practical habits:
- Always confirm the Trail is equipped before you AFK the treadmill.
- Claim Index Speed and Cash as soon as a new animal registers.
- Return to the treadmill after every major purchase so your Speed matches the next zone.
- Treat Recommended Speed as the real gate for every difficulty band past Forest.
Index and Pen
The Index tracks animals you have discovered. Completing entries grants Speed and Cash — for example, Chicken awards 60 Speed and 100 Cash when claimed. Work zones systematically so Index rewards stack with Pen income instead of arriving as random leftovers. Pair this page with Index rewards once you leave the first hour.
Your Pen is the economy core. Stolen animals generate cash over time. Higher-weight animals (including merge results) pay better. When you hold three of the same species, visit the merge station next to the Invite Friend NPC and press E to merge into a higher-weight egg path — see pet merge. Early on, focus on filling the Pen with reliable Forest commons; specialize after Desert feels consistent.
What not to do on day one
- Do not ignore free like/favorite Speed because you assume codes will save you — codes are empty until new promos appear.
- Do not buy Trails and leave them unequipped.
- Do not push Snowy (~50,000 Speed) or Candy (~750,000 Speed) while still dying in Forest or Desert.
- Do not break a heavy egg without an exit plan — weight slows you and invites guards.
- Do not skip Index claims; free Speed compounds every later zone.

Follow the spawn checklist, keep a Trail equipped, clear Forest cleanly, and spend cash on Trails and treadmill time before ego zone pushes. That foundation carries you through Desert and into the mid-game without restarting your economy every session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Are there codes for Break and Steal an Egg?
There are no working redeem codes as of the current season. Use like + favorite Speed next to the Trails Shop and group Community Rewards (Sabertooth Egg) instead. Recheck the codes page when promos drop.
What should I buy first: a Trail or a better pickaxe?
After the free Speed claim, buy and equip White Trail early. Upgrade the pickaxe when Forest eggs feel slow to break, but prioritize Trails whenever escapes fail more than breaks do.
Why is my Trail not helping on the treadmill?
Trails only multiply treadmill Speed while equipped. Owning a Trail in inventory does nothing until you equip it.
Where do I place stolen animals?
Carry them to your Pen and place them there. Pen animals generate cash that funds pickaxes, Trails, and deeper zone prep.
