Break and Steal an Egg How to Get Speed

Equip Trails, claim Index rewards, and farm the treadmill until every zone escape feels safe.

How to Get Speed

Speed decides whether a steal ends in your Pen or in a guard reset. Break and Steal an Egg does not hand you endgame movement for free: you stack Speed from free claims, Index discoveries, and the treadmill — and every treadmill tick only counts if a Trail is equipped. This guide is the full Speed farm plan: free rewards, Index claims, Trail multipliers, AFK treadmill habits, and what to buy when you feel stuck between zones.

If you are brand new, finish the getting started checklist first, then return here whenever escapes fail more often than eggs break.

Why Speed matters more than raw Power

Pickaxes raise Power so shells crack faster. Speed raises your chance to leave the zone with the animal. A Diamond pickaxe cannot save a slow escape through Desert or Snowy. Players who dump every dollar into Power while running White Trail (or no Trail) hit a wall: eggs open, guards arrive, and the carry dies before the Pen.

Treat Speed as the soft requirement for each difficulty band:

  • Forest (Easy) — free claim plus White Trail is usually enough.
  • Desert (Medium) — Blue or better recommended before you live there.
  • Snowy (Hard) and Candy (Extra Hard) — Green/Purple Trails and Index Speed claims become mandatory.
  • Swamp through Galaxy — you need serious Trail tiers and continuous treadmill sessions. See zones for cost and difficulty context.

Free Speed rewards (do these every account)

There are no active redeem codes for Speed right now. Free progress comes from social claims:

  1. Like + favorite the experience, then claim the Speed reward located to the right of the Trails Shop.
  2. Join the group and open Community Rewards for the Sabertooth Egg when it is available (egg value plus long-term Pen income, not a direct Speed potion — still worth claiming early).

Do the like/favorite claim before your first treadmill session. It is the cheapest Speed spike in the game and many players miss the button because they walk straight into Forest.

Index claims: Speed and Cash for discoveries

The Index tracks animals you have found. Claiming completed entries grants Speed and Cash. A clear early example: Chicken awards 60 Speed and 100 Cash when claimed. Those numbers look small next to late Trails, but Index rewards stack across dozens of species and fund early shop buys while permanently raising your baseline Speed.

Speed farm habits for Index:

  • Open the Index after every new species so claims do not pile up unclaimed.
  • Clear Forest commons systematically before hopping zones at random — completion rate beats lucky Mythic attempts when your Trail is still White or Blue.
  • Use Index Cash to buy the next Trail tier instead of impulse high-zone pushes.
  • When you return from a new band (Desert Bones, Snowy Yeti, and so on), claim immediately, then treadmill with the new total.

Full claim strategy and zone completion order live on Index rewards. Pair Index farming with Pen income so Cash and Speed rise together.

Trails multiply treadmill Speed — must equip

Trails are the main Speed multiplier. Important rules:

  • Trails multiply treadmill Speed.
  • The multiplier applies only while the Trail is equipped.
  • Buying a Trail and leaving it in inventory does nothing.

Early Trail ladder (full table on the trails page):

TrailCostMultiplier
White$5002x
Blue$7,5004x
Green$100,0008x
Purple$1.2M16x
Red$17.5M40x
Golden$250M100x
Rainbow$3.5B250x
Galactic$45B600x
Secret$600B1.5k
Laser$8T4k
Moonlight$100T10k

Buy White as soon as Forest Pen income allows, equip it, and treadmill. Push Blue before you over-invest in mid pickaxes if guards still catch you. Watch the Blue-before-Green shop quirk described on the trails page — skipping Blue often feels like a dead economy even when Green is visible in the shop.

Treadmill AFK tips

The treadmill converts equipped Trail time into Speed. Practical routine:

  1. Equip your best Trail (confirm the character model / UI shows it active).
  2. Stand on the treadmill in a safe hub spot.
  3. AFK in short blocks between steal sessions, or longer when you just unlocked a new Trail tier.
  4. After any major purchase (new Trail, new pickaxe, new zone), return for a top-up so your Speed matches the content you just unlocked.
  5. Never AFK without a Trail equipped — bare treadmill time is a wasted session.

Server size is small (seven players). Hub crowding is usually fine, but if someone blocks the treadmill, hop servers rather than idling off the pad. Keep the Roblox window focused enough that you do not get kicked for inactivity during long farms.

Upgrade order when you are stuck

Use this decision tree when progress stalls:

Symptom: eggs break fine, escapes fail. Buy and equip the next Trail. Treadmill. Claim any pending Index Speed. Do not unlock the next zone yet.

Symptom: escapes are fine, shells take forever. Buy the next pickaxe from the pickaxes ladder (Stone → Iron → Golden → Diamond, and so on). Power fixes break time; it does not fix chase time.

Symptom: both feel bad after a new zone push. You entered too early. Drop back one band, fill Index entries, merge duplicates for Pen income (pet merge), and buy the missing Trail tier before returning.

Symptom: cash exists but Speed will not rise. Check equip status first. Then confirm you claimed like/favorite and Index rewards. Only then grind longer treadmill blocks.

Suggested spend priority while climbing Forest → Desert → Snowy:

  1. Free like/favorite Speed claim.
  2. White Trail equipped + treadmill.
  3. Stone/Iron pickaxe as needed for Forest break speed.
  4. Blue Trail + treadmill.
  5. Desert unlock when escapes succeed consistently.
  6. Green/Purple Trails interleaved with mid pickaxes (Cactus, Lightning) as zone difficulty jumps.
  7. Continuous Index claims after every new animal.

Late game (Candy through Galaxy) follows the same logic at larger numbers: Trail tier and treadmill time unlock the steal; pickaxe tier unlocks the break. Never reverse that when you are dying on the way out.

Linking Speed to steals and zones

Speed farming is not an end in itself. You farm Speed so how to steal routes work under guard pressure, including heavy egg slowdown and player Bat threats. Each zone band on the zones page assumes higher movement. If a band lists Insane, Brutal, or Impossible difficulty, treat your current Trail multiplier as part of the entry fee — not an optional cosmetic.

Session template (15–20 minutes)

  1. Claim free rewards and Index pending Speed/Cash.
  2. Equip best Trail; treadmill 3–5 minutes.
  3. Run 4–6 steals in your current zone with planned exits.
  4. Place animals; merge triples if ready.
  5. Spend cash on the next Trail (or pickaxe if breaks are the bottleneck).
  6. Treadmill again before you log off so the next session starts warm.

Repeat that loop and Speed stops being a mystery stat. Equip Trails, claim Index, respect the treadmill, and only then chase flashy high-zone Speed gates.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do Trails work if they are only in my inventory?

No. Trails multiply treadmill Speed only while equipped. Always equip after purchase.

Where is the free Speed claim?

Like and favorite the game, then claim Speed to the right of the Trails Shop. Also join the group for Community Rewards.

How much Speed does Chicken give from the Index?

Chicken is a clear early example: 60 Speed and 100 Cash when claimed. Other animals grant their own Speed and Cash values.

I unlocked a new zone and keep dying. What should I buy?

Prioritize the next Trail and treadmill time. Fix Speed before more Power or another zone push if escapes are the failure point.
