Break and Steal an Egg Trails Guide

Equip Trails to multiply treadmill Speed — ownership alone does nothing.

Trails Guide

Trails are the Speed multiplier engine in Break and Steal an Egg. You buy them from the Trails Shop, equip them, then stand on the treadmill to convert time into Speed. Speed is what lets you steal past guards and bank animals in the Pen. If you only remember one rule from this wiki, remember this: a Trail in inventory does not multiply anything until it is equipped.

This page lists all eleven Trails, explains the equip rule, covers the Blue-before-Green shop quirk, and shows how Trails race pickaxes for your cash. Pair it with how to get Speed for farm routines and getting started for the first-hour order.

MUST EQUIP warning

Players routinely buy White or Blue, leave the Trail unequipped, AFK the treadmill, and report that “Trails are broken.” They are not. The multiplier applies to treadmill Speed only while equipped. After every purchase:

  1. Open your Trail equipment UI.
  2. Equip the new Trail (or confirm the best one is active).
  3. Step on the treadmill.
  4. Recheck equip status after deaths, server hops, or shop sessions.

Treat equip checks like pickaxe checks. You would not expect to break eggs without a pickaxe in hand; do not expect Speed gains from a Trail sitting in storage.

Full Trails table (11)

TrailCostSpeed multiplier
White$5002x
Blue$7,5004x
Green$100,0008x
Purple$1.2M16x
Red$17.5M40x
Golden$250M100x
Rainbow$3.5B250x
Galactic$45B600x
Secret$600B1.5k
Laser$8T4k
Moonlight$100T10k

White is the mandatory early buy after free like/favorite Speed. Moonlight is the endgame multiplier for Brutal Galaxy work. Every step between is a negotiation with pickaxes and higher zone Speed gates.

Free Speed beside the Trails Shop

Before you spend on White, claim the like + favorite Speed reward to the right of the Trails Shop. Join the group for Community Rewards (Sabertooth Egg) when available. There are no working redeem codes to replace these claims. The shop location is a hint: the designers put free Speed next to the paid multipliers on purpose.

Blue before Green — shop quirk

A common progression trap is staring at Green ($100k, 8x) while skipping or delaying Blue ($7.5k, 4x). Blue is dramatically cheaper and doubles White’s multiplier. Skipping Blue to “save for Green” often leaves you under-sped in Desert/Snowy for a long time while cash dribbles in too slowly to hit $100k safely.

Recommended early Trail path:

  1. Claim free Speed.
  2. Buy White ($500), equip, treadmill.
  3. Stabilize Forest steals and Pen income.
  4. Buy Blue ($7.5k), equip, treadmill — do this before Green fantasizing.
  5. Fund Green ($100k) once Blue-era farming and Index claims make the jump realistic.
  6. Continue Purple → Red as zones climb into Extra Hard and Insane bands.

If Green is visible and Blue is not owned yet, buy Blue first unless you somehow already have $100k with no Blue and perfect escape rates (rare for new accounts).

Trails vs pickaxes vs Speed gates

Cash has three hungry sinks:

  • Trails — escape Speed via treadmill multipliers.
  • Pickaxes — break Power for tougher eggs.
  • Zone Speed gates — Recommended Speed from Desert ~1k to Galaxy ~25B.

Decision shortcut:

  • Losing animals after the shell opens → Trail (equip + treadmill).
  • Shells will not open / take forever → pickaxe.
  • Both fine in current band → save for the next unlock or the next Trail tier that prepares that unlock.

Early example: Stone/Iron pickaxes are cheap and worth buying, but a player who skips White/Blue Trails to rush Golden/Diamond still drops eggs to guards. Late example: Laser/Moonlight owners who forget to equip after a shop flex waste trillion-scale purchases.

Trail readiness by zone band

Approximate comfort targets (not hard requirements):

ZoneTrail mindset
ForestWhite equipped + free Speed
DesertBlue planned or owned
SnowyGreen becoming realistic
CandyPurple/Red territory
Swamp–OceanHigh mid Trails; heavy carries
Hell–BlossomLate high multipliers
GalaxySecret / Laser / Moonlight class

Always treadmill after a Trail upgrade before judging a zone as “too hard.” Unequipped or untested Trails create false difficulty readings.

Farming habits that make Trails worth it

  1. Equip → treadmill → steal → bank → claim Index → reassess shop.
  2. After server hops, re-verify the equipped Trail.
  3. Do not AFK off the treadmill pad in a crowded hub — hop servers if blocked.
  4. Spend Index Cash on the next Trail when escapes are the pain point (Index rewards).
  5. Merge animals to raise Pen income so Trail jumps arrive sooner (pet merge).

Mistakes to avoid

  • Buying Trails and never equipping them.
  • Skipping Blue to save for Green.
  • Comparing Trail cost to pickaxe Power as if they solve the same problem.
  • Unlocking Candy or Swamp on White/Blue because the fee was affordable once.
  • Assuming codes will grant Speed — check codes, but expect empty lists until promos appear.

Equip every Trail you buy, take Blue before you idolize Green, and let the treadmill turn multipliers into real escape Speed. That is the entire Trails system — simple rules, harsh penalties for ignoring them.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do I need to equip Trails for them to work?

Yes. Trails only multiply treadmill Speed while equipped. Inventory ownership alone does nothing.

Should I buy Green before Blue?

No. Blue costs $7,500 for 4x and should come before saving solely for Green at $100,000 for 8x in normal progression.

Where is the free Speed reward?

Like and favorite the experience, then claim Speed to the right of the Trails Shop. Also use group Community Rewards when available.

What is the best Trail?

Moonlight costs $100T and grants a 10k multiplier. It is endgame. Early accounts should focus on White then Blue.
